Often described as a running club with a drinking problem the “game” of hashing—a race that includes beer stops along the way.
Hashing is a non-competitive cross- town or country chase set by the hare. The hare set a trail marked by chalk marks, white flour or toilet paper. The rest of the hash the pack often called the harriers or hounds follow the trail. The reward being a tub of iced-down beer. A really good course is the one which can get the laid-back, slow hashers to the On-In (finish) first and leaves the forerunners stuck in difficult situations.
